An amazing friend Andrew ( Big Red), who is a wonderful new father, life changed 2 weeks ago. Andrew was rushed to hospital with breathing problems and numbness throughout his legs, within hours his condition worsened and was placed within ICU. Andrew has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Sydrome. Guillain-Barre Sydrome is an illness is which the bodies immune system attacks the nerves connecting the brain and spinal cord with the rest of the body. It causes weakness, numbness or paralysis. Antibodies in the immune system attack and damage the nerves.
Andrew is currently still in ICU and will be for around a month. He has paralysis from the shoulders down and needs to go onto a ventilator every 2 hours to assist with his breathing, due to his lungs having colapsed several times. There is no cure for Guillain-Barre Sydrome however recovery could take anywhere up to 2 years or longer. He has a long road ahead with first getting well enough to leave ICU and go into a normal ward and then begin rehabilitation and physical therapy, then to return home and continue these treatments.
During this time we are looking to help raise funds for Andrew as he has an adorable 5 month old son, and every day bills which will still need to be paid as he will not have an income for this time.

We regret that noone will be able to visit him at this stage as only family are able to visit in ICU.
