Alayne's Breast Cancer Rears its ugly head --AGAIN

Some of you may remember our previous fundraiser for our amazing Fairy Penguin, Alayne Newton... we raised about $5,000 that helped Alayne to access breast cancer treatments when her insurer only covered a portion of her chemotherapy! Many of you helped out and Alayne did really well... until today. Now we have an absolutely URGENT need to help our dear friend. She wrote us today that tests last week show the cancer has returned and has now spread to her jaw, neck, liver, adrenal glands and possibly her bone marrow -- her platelets dropped to 20000 (about 10% of what one needs for blood to clot normally) and she had to get a transfusion yesterday. She had been working as a Vet Tech again, but she is starting a new, very aggressive chemo strategy right away and with CoVid so prevalent in Florida, she will not be able to work again until she is no longer immunocompromised. I know it's alot to ask -- we're all trying to keep our heads above water and experiencing a constant, low-level stress that we never dreamed of -- but if you can just give a little, it would help her more than you can imagine. Your support will help not only financially, but emotionally -- she felt so blessed that so many people she would never know donated to her Fund previously. Can you help us support Alayne in this most difficult fight? Funds will be used to make her insurance co-pays for her cancer treatments, transportation to/from her chemotherapy and medical appointments, as well as help her out with food and bills, since she has no income whatsoever at this point. We call all of our staff at Kindred Spirits Veterinary Clinic the Fairy Penguins. Fairy Penguins are small creatures, not very adept at protecting themselves from predators. In the mornings, they all trudge down to the sea together -- the numbers can be upwards of 25,000! -- and swim and feed for the day. As day ends, they near the shore, call for one another and then, all together, make their way back to their little burrows. They stick together and support one another -- all for one and one for all!
