Help Kendra Kick Cancer

Hi, everyone. I am Kendra, on the most challenging journey of my life.

Late in 2021, I had symptoms like indigestion and gastric discomfort. Early in 2022, I began to have problems with swallowing food, which steadily worsened and became severe. My family and I were stunned that the problems were not because of a reaction to medicines I was taking or the suspected narrowing of my esophagus but were caused by Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer which spread to my kidneys.

After learning of my diagnosis this June, I have been supported by a great medical team in San Antonio who have worked to make chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments accessible and by countless friends and family members who have shared prayers, food, support and encouragement. I have responded well to the early rounds of chemo and may be a candidate for new treatment protocols in the future.

Unfortunately, due to my job loss during COVID, I do not have health insurance to cover my ongoing care. The medical support team has worked hard to obtain discounts for treatment and access to much of my medication at no cost. Despite this, my parents and I must make substantial payments and face potential debt to provide my ongoing care. My chemotherapy treatments and follow-up appointments cost $2800 per month, not including other medical costs for urology treatment. I hope to qualify for more assistance, but these may be ongoing expenses over many months.
