Pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree is one of the most challenging academic paths a student can take. It demands discipline, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others, because in this field, lives depend on accuracy and care.

For those of you who don’t know me yet, I am Fredrick D. Bass, II, and I am a proud native of North Louisiana. I have spent much of my career Education, but I am now stepping into a greater purpose. I want to serve and advocate for individuals in my community who often feel overlooked or underserved by the healthcare system. I believe we deserve better access, better understanding, and better outcomes.

After months of studying, praying, and interviewing with several schools, I have been blessed with acceptance into the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the illustrious Howard University in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. I could not be more proud and honored to have this privilege and opportunity! This journey to acceptance has required sacrifice, faith, and persistence, and I know I am ready and prepared to take the next step and begin.

This acceptance process comes with not just a normal move but an extremely extraordinary one seeing that I’ll be traveling across the country over 16 hours away from all I have ever known. Funding must not only cover safe travels but food, deposits, and essential supplies that come with relocating. This financial requirement of relocating alone can be a barrier, which is why I am humbly asking for support.

I am entering this journey representing not just my community but my entire state as well. The guidance, encouragement, and support I have received have shaped me into who I am today. Now, I am asking for those who are willing to pour into me and assist me with taking this huge leap of faith so I can give back in an outstanding and meaningful way.

My goal is to become equipped to educate, advocate, and provide quality care to those who need it most, no matter what that may look like. I will carry Louisiana with me to Howard with pride and remain committed to uplifting the population.
