||| WHAT HAPPENED? |||
On September 29th while driving home with Alwin their car went off the road and impacted a concrete structure in the ditch. She was brought to Princess Margaret Hospital in Rousseau. On October 2nd she was airlifted from Dominica to Broward Medical Center in FL where she is receiving world-class care.
She is now in recovery from surgery for a ruptured diaphragm and spleen, 6 Broken ribs, 2 broken femurs, and a very serious T4 spinal fracture.

||| HOW IS SHE NOW? |||
As a result of Faye's injuries she is now breathing with a ventilator, and we are waiting to see how serious her spinal injury is. She is starting to regain mobility and function of her arms, but we are not yet sure to what extent she will have function of her legs.
This will be a long and difficult process of recovery, rehabilitation, and healing.

||| WHO IS FAYE? |||
Maybe you know her as "Miss Faye" or "Nana Faye"...
Faye Kass is a force of nature, and despite the many challenges in life she has faced you will always see her emerge with grace and strength. A child of Holocaust survivors, she was born in 1948 in a German Displaced Persons camp. Throughout her life she has always worked on projects that bring together creativity and community in wonderful and meaningful ways. From her days running day care programs for the underserved, to joining the Peace Corps in Dominica. For the past 20 years she has been teaching art classes to the children on the island, and recently also started running a local flea market. People seem to know her far and wide as an energetic entrepreneur and community organizer.
See her amazing work with the children of Dominica here:

||| WHAT NEXT? |||
We are in the process of getting her stable enough to leave Broward and move to an LTAC (long term acute care) facility in California. There she can continue to heal and recover while being surrounded by family and a community that knows and loves her.
Thank you for all the love and support!
