Faye Dawson-Judkins (Mother) & Raheim Nelson (Son)
On the evening of Christmas Day (December 25th, 2022), right before our family Christmas Dinner, my family received the most unthinkable/unbearable news: Faye Dawson-Judkins (mother) and Raheim Nelson (son) was involved in a horrific Christmas morning car accident in West Hartford, Connecticut, that took them away from us. The loss has caused unbearable pain for family members, co-workers, teammates, friends, and the wider Hartford, Avon (Canton), and West Hartford communities.
At the time of her passing, mom had just achieved her lifelong dream as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) where she was employed at Duncaster Retirement Community and the Hartford Hospital. She was a loving mother of four (4) kids (including Raheim) and a devoted wife to her surviving husband, Mr. Jessie Judkins who is also from Hartford.
Raheim, who joined Canton High School in August after leaving Weaver High School in 2022, was an all-state soccer player who moved to Hartford in 2020 from Jamaica to be with his mom and to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a professional soccer player in the USA. He immediately made a positive impact on the community, his school, and the local soccer leagues with his kindness, his attitude, and his natural abilities. He is also being mourned by his part-time work colleagues at Duncaster Retirement Community.
"In a short period of time, he made an outstanding impression on all students, staff, and the community with his respectful and dedicated approach to school. While quiet, Raheim had a wonderful sense of humor and openly shared his friendly and supportive disposition with all. He was a major contributor to the team’s highly successful soccer program where he worked seamlessly with his new teammates.", said Canton High School Principal Andrew DiPippo.
As you can imagine, the news of their passing has been overwhelmingly burdensome and in some cases, simply unbearable. Over the past week, our family has received a tremendous level of support from various communities, including calls, hugs, words of encouragement and so much more. We have also managed to raise a total of US$15,000 so far from the Canton community and we wish to extend our gratitude to all those who have so far supported our family.
The family is currently in the process of finalizing memorial/funeral arrangements for mom and Raheim, which include a series of memorial activities, transportation of their remains back to Kingston, Jamaica, funeral arrangements in Kingston, Jamaica in addition to other miscellaneous expenses relating to their passing.
We invite those who wish to pay their respects to Faye Dawson-Judkins and Raheim Nelson to continue to do so using this official Go-Fundme account. if you wish to donate via direct wire/transfer, we have attached the wire instructions for Webster Bank. This account has been set up solely for the process of handling matters relating to memorial/funeral activities.
This account is being managed by Mr. Ricardo Allen, son, and brother, who is also leading the planning and organization of all memorial activities. The organization of activities is also being supported by Jessie's daughter, Shauna Shelton, and Faye's sister, Latoya.
All proceeds from the fundraising will be used exclusively for its designated purpose. The beneciaries shall be Jessie Judkins (Husband of Faye Dawson-Judkins) and the surviving children and mother of Faye Dawson-Judkins to aid in the memorial activities.
