Hi! I'm Fawn, a multilingual singer and songwriter from Whitehorse, Yukon. I'm the winner of the 2014 Julian Award of Excellence for Emerging Canadian Jazz Artists.
I've finished recording my second full-length vocal jazz album, but I can't finish it without your help to get it mixed, mastered, manufactured, and out into the world.
The album: Pairings
Pairings is an unusual collection of duets made up of instrument + voice pairings, along with a couple of vocal duets. It was a fun challenge to dream up surprising combinations. Sometimes I chose an instrument, then found a song to pair with it. Sometimes I found a song and created an arrangement for it.
The album features some of the best Canadian jazz musicians today, including George Koller (bass), Reg Schwager (guitar), Karl Schwonik (drums), David Restivo (piano), Kelly Jefferson (tenor sax), and more...
Making a full-length album is expensive. Over the past two years, I've put in over $6,000 for music arranging, studio time, and musician fees. The mixing and mastering will be another $4,500, manufacturing will be $2,000. There's also graphic design, photography, publicity, plus crowdfunding fees for this campaign.
I've set a goal of releasing this album by April 15. To do that, I need to raise the funds to pay for the final stages of making the CD within the next 3 weeks (by February 26).
How you can help
Connecting and collaborating is the heart of making music. That has been the best part of recording this album, getting to work with the best talent in the country! Now it would mean the world to me if you would be a part of this album, too.
Every contribution makes a difference. Please contribute what is comfortable for you, and if you don't have the means to contribute financially, I would be grateful if you would tell your friends about the campaign and why you think it's worth supporting.
