It’s hard to put into words someone that when you first met them you had an instant connection, but you couldn’t communicate with them because of a language barrier. However, what I have learned is that laughter is universal and crosses all cultures, languages and ages. It is a gift from God and Fausto and I have done a good bit of it. I can hear Fausto’s words in my head, “Brandon... “ and then something behind that. Either saying “no” as I was giving him a hard time or acting like he was smarter than me or a better soccer player. Fausto is also extremely gifted and resourceful! He is a third generation carpenter and many people and children have benefited from his gifting as he has served ministriesin Zone 18, Guatemala City.
As I say all this, I find it hard to believe that my laughing, bigger than life and creative friend is fighting for his life with Cancer. Cancer isn’t bias, it hits all people no matter race, gender, age or nationality. While we often complain about our healthcare system in the U.S, we still have world class medicine and options. In Guatemala, most people don’t have access to healthcare and if they do the wait can be days, months or not at all. Now as we look at cancer it gets even worse. So I am asking for a dear friend, can you help out? Fausto and his wife Helen have given and served the children and families of Zone 18 for many years sacrificing so much. Now it’s time for us to serve them during this difficult time. Every bit helps and most importantly it shows they are loved and cared for. Thank you!!
