Fatuma and Ola Family Relief Fund
Donation protected
On Monday, January 1st, our friends and co-workers, Ola and Fatuma suffered a tragic loss. While sitting in their living room with their two daughters, Lily (6) and Nia (3), they began to notice smoke filling the house. They soon realized that the house was on fire and they needed to evacuate. Less than three minutes later, the entire house was engulfed in flames, destroying all of the family's possessions including clothes, furniture, shoes, electronics and valuable heirlooms.
As one of the members of the Senior Leadership Team at Beaverbrook STEP, Inc. in Watertown, Massachusetts, I started this campaign on behalf of the dedicated employees and friends of our company who work with and know both Fatuma and Ola. Personally, I have had the pleasure of working with them both for over 9 years and consider them close colleugues, friends and family.
Fatuma and Ola have both dedicated their lives to supporting adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their work, particularly at Beaverbrook STEP, Inc., is a testament to their selfless and dedicated spirit....one that is now being challenged.
Over the past few days, we have begun to collect items for the family to help get them through the short term unknown of being displaced without warning. However, that is simply a short term fix. All donations have been welcome and helpful but what Fatuma, Ola, Lily and Nia truly need right now is our financial support.
Please consider giving back to this wonderful family who has given our community, our agency and ourselves so much of their love and support over the years.
All donations, however small, will go a long way to helping this family begin to reflect, rebuild and ultimately regain the spirited lives they so generously shared with us all.
Fatuma will act as the beneficiary for the generous donations you have all provided and will help the family purchase new clothes, furniture, household items and secure a new apartment for their young family.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
