Jong Keun Choi’s Journey to Recovery

To Everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you, on November 11th, my father encountered a devastating accident. He endured a severe fall that resulted in a traumatic brain injury to his left hemisphere. Without extensive rehabilitation could impact his comprehension, lack of movement to the right side of his body, language, reading, writing, and ability to express himself. In addition to his Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), he has a broken rib with a punctured lung that requires the support of a ventilator for basic breathing. In addition, he has a broken spine rendering him currently paralyzed from the waist down. He is currently in the intensive care unit, facing a strenuous path to recovery.

Those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with my father, they can attest to his vibrant personality—a true adventurer at heart, an active soul who revels in the joy of dancing and singing. He has the biggest and kindest heart possessing a sense of humor that lights up any room he walks into. His family has always been his top priority and unfortunately, the aftermath of this tragic event has transformed him into someone completely different from the spirited individual he once was.

Amidst this challenging time, the medical staff and our family hold onto the belief that extensive therapy can play a pivotal role in his recovery. With this conviction in mind, we have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to alleviate the substantial financial difficulties, accompanying the multitude of medical and rehabilitation costs. Our ultimate goal is not only to facilitate his healing but also to bring him back home, surrounded by the familiar comfort of family, friends, and loved ones.

Every bit of assistance, whether through financial contributions or the simple act of sharing our campaign, holds immense value to us. Although some of the cost will be covered by insurance, a majority of the financial strain will not be. Your support will not only aid in covering the mounting medical expenses, rehabilitation and adjusted living, but serve as a beacon of hope for our family during this trying period.
