Hello Brothers & Sisters in Christ. My friend Scott and his son Elijah are facing eviction they are currently months behind on their rent due to lack of business/work for Scott.
Scott has a long list of medical problems: see below:
If Scott & Elijah are forced to leave their home at this time, his chances of survival are slim. The move itself might be more than his body can survive, & the business has been ravaged by all the negative events such as the national & local economy & the steady erosion of appraisal opportunities.
Scott used to regularly complete over 200 appraisals per year, managing his own schedule & both maintaining & improving quality. Now, he can no longer rely on his good name & reputation to attract such a workload, as the quality of work & the excellence of the appraiser has no impact on marketing his service. The industry has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, & some changes in the law have destroyed the appraisers' ability to build his practice on a solid reputation of talent, diligence, & ethical standards. Appraisals have become more complicated with greater requirements - whereas it only took 4 hours to produce an appraisal when Scott began, it now takes 6 to 10 hours to research & write the reports (not counting travel time to & from properties (that was included in the 4 hours, originally). Meanwhile, the industry has become totally impersonal & does not reward excellent work so much as lower prices & rapid delivery - these 2 things are incompatible with quality work. Still, Scott has not allowed the quality of his work to be damaged.
Scott & his entire family are jewish believers & followers of Jesus Christ.
Per Scott below is a list of his current and recent medical history:
Has Diabeties
Officially diagnosed with chronic asthma in mid-1990s. That is usually controlled, & I think many “breathless” times may have been more related to the heart.
2007 - Heart attack at age 53, received a triple bypass.
Over the next 10 years, 4 stents were installed.
Around 2018-2020, a defibrillator (some call it a pacemaker) was installed. This device has performed perfectly, & daily reports are monitored that report no problems that they can detect.
August - A Watchman device installed. This means I will never again need blood thinners to prevent stroke.
Lab work is now twice/year, & all areas that used to be of concern are now in normal ranges, only improving since 2020. A few minor concerns are new, but more related to age than anything else.
I’m getting my legs scanned to make sure my circulation is still in normal ranges. No results are known yet.
I do have trouble controlling my weight.
Sight & hearing & reflexes & mental acuity remain very good, overall. Short term memory not as good as earlier in life, but long term is really good though not perfect. Reasoning & concentration are as good as ever, I think.
Please Donate and support Scott & Elijah to be able to stay in their home.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
