Father Rodger's Health and Living Fund

Donation protected
Father Rodger Hunter Hall, born in the United States, was ordained a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of L’Aquila, 60 miles east of Rome, where he was the English language secretary to the Archbishop.

After the death of his Archbishop, the archdiocese's new Archbishop allowed Father Rodger to return to his native country and to come to Washington with a mandate to work in academics.

Initially, Father Rodger was an editor of Crisis Magazine. Subsequently, he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Theology at the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College. During this time, he was also a consultant to the American Council of Education concerning programs of religious studies.

Additionally, over the ensuing years, Father Rodger has remained engaged in pastoral work, serving as a civilian chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery, an adjunct priest of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception; he did supply ministry in several parishes of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Diocese of Arlington.

During the administration of President George W. Bush, he served as a program specialist and as Acting Deputy Director of the Office to Combat Human Trafficking at the US Department of Health and Human Services, facilitating the engagement of NGOs and the Faith Based Communities desiring to collaborate in providing care and services to rescued victims of human trafficking.

His main work has been his years as Religion Specialist at the Library of Congress before his health situation deteriorated, which necessitated his retirement.

Father Rodger received a disability retirement following multiple episodes of pulmonary embolism, a heart attack, a stroke, and the diagnosis of an incurable kidney condition in addition to his debilitation from coronary artery disease.

Unfortunately, Father Rodger's diocese in Italy suffered a devastating earthquake in 2009 and is still recovering from the damage done. A return to Italy is not possible and now that he is unable to work due to poor health, he is living far below the poverty level and needs help to pay for his day-to-day living expenses and medical bills.
