Bandit, a 14 yr old Lhasa Apso. Bandit was taken out of his home by the Thurston County Sheriff because of severe neglect when the wife of an elderly couple died, and the husband didn't know how to care for him.
Theodore, a 13 yr old Shih Tzu. Like Bandit, the wife of the older couple who owned Theo died, and then the husband was placed into a nursing home. He was frequently abused by other family members. His littermate, Oreo, also came to live with me. He died from heart problems on Dec 27, 2018.
Fred, a Lhasa Apso about 10 yrs old. Fred's owner had to surrender him because his owner had dementia. Fred was loved, but it seems he never received any vet care and was underfed when he arrived in rescue. 22 teeth had to be pulled because of disease.
Their photos appear in this story.
All take medications:
Bandit gets Tacrolimus ointment and Nepafanec eyedrops to keep from going blind, Galliprant to deal with his arthritis, and Thyrosyn (thyroid) to keep up his thyroid levels.
Theodore gets Tacrolimus ointment to preserve and improve his eyesight which is at 75%, thyroid to keep up his thyroid levels (low thyroid can result in dry eye), Galliprant to help with his arthritis, and Phycox (glucosamine) to help his aching joints.
Fred takes Thyrosyn to keep up his thyroid levels, Tacrolimus drops to preserve and improve his eyesight, and Phycox to help his aching joints so he can get more exercise and improve his rear legs' strength.
Medications are $525 a month for these dogs. If you can help, I am thankful. I live frugally and am aware of the commitment I took on when I adopted these old dogs. They have their forever home with me. I hope you might find us worthy of a small donation, and I am grateful for your consideration of my senior doggie family. Blessings!
