Father of Four, LtCol Geoff Hollopeter
Donation protected
On behalf of the Marines that loved our fellow brother-in-arms, Lieutenant Colonel Geoffry Hollopeter We are raising money for the future support of his wonderful children that have been with him through everything. Geoff tragically, and unexpectedly, passed away after a sudden illness, leaving behind his loving wife, Michelle, and four young children. They supported Geoff during his service to our country through numerous wartime deployments and hardship tours. Michelle and the children have been incredibly thankful to the Marine Corps, their friends, and their family for the continued love and support that they have received during this difficult time.
While the Marine Corps has done a superb job in supporting and meeting Hollopeter’s immediate needs, Geoff’s family will require additional financial support as they make the immensely difficult move into the next phase of their lives without their husband and father. In addition to moving off base and resettling in new schools, his children will have to make their way through life without their father, and this fund will support them in their future endeavors as Geoff would have done. The fund aims to help the Hollopeter childrens’ future educational needs are addressed. We want to show the same “Semper Fidelis” approach Geoff’s family as he did for our nation and Marines.
Geoff will be remembered for many things throughout his career. The former Battalion Commander of 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, the Executive Officer of 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, the Company Commander and Operations Officer of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, the Platoon Commander and Executive Officer of 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, and the Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station Indianapolis. He originally enlisted into the United States Marine Corps as a Light Armored Reconnaissance man and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin. He has multiple combat and non-combat deployments including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Western Pacific deployments.
All Marine and Sailors that served with Geoff admired his commitment, outstanding example, and sage advice. Yet throughout his remarkable career, Geoff’s legacy was that he took pride in being the best father and husband possible, valuing family above all else. He would spend what little free time he could find with his family, showing them that they were the most important part of his life.
We have lost one of our nation’s finest Marine leaders, faithful fathers, and an outstanding human being. Please help honor Geoff’s legacy and support his family, keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. All donations will support the Hollopeter Family as they navigate their way in these very difficult and heartbreaking times.
