Several months ago my Dad was diagnosed with liver cancer. He was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital and put on the liver transplant list. The transplant list is very long and it could be years before it’s your turn. My dad didn’t have that kind of time to wait. 
As a family, we decided to explore our options for living donors. I volunteered to be tested and matched! We are so very lucky and grateful we had a match within our family. 
But this also means the financial stress of two surgeries, as well as the need for care after our hospital stays. My dad won’t be able to work for many months, as well as time off for my mom to care for him. We were told the anti rejection medicine alone could cost thousands and thousands of dollars the first year. 
If you are able to, please consider helping our family during this time. All donations will be going towards medical expenses and my parent’s mortgage while they’re unable to work.

7/31 Update: Dad and I are recovering at home. Our doctor's are very happy with both of our progress :) My follow up appointment today went very well and I won't have to go back for 6 weeks, yay! My dad will continue being seen twice a week at Mount Sinai for follow ups and blood work to adjust and manage his medicine. Our family is taking it day by day with the most positive attitudes.
