Father battling 4th round of brain cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Kamryn Kennedy and I am one of Neil Kennedy's daughters. I know a lot of my friends and family know of my Dad's brain cancer struggle but for those that do not know my Dad's story, he is a miracle.
Super Bowl night in 1988 would be the night that his life would be forever changed. My Dad was having seizures all night and in the morning his roommate tried to wake him and my Dad did not recognize him and started chasing him. His roommate knew something was wrong and called 911. After many tests were completed the doctors found that he had a brain tumor the size of a lemon with octopus- like arms surrounding a portion of his brain. After many months treatment, surgery and time in the hospital, he defeated all odds and the brain cancer went into remission. He has had to take medicine daily to ensure he would not have seizures from that point forward.
Fast forward to 2013, my Mother noticed that he could not order his food at a fast food restaurant counter and she had to order it for him. She knew that this was not normal, noticed a change in his speech and encouraged him to go see his doctor. After having tests, they determined that his brain cancer was back. He has been going back and forth to Duke University every two months for the past several years, has been on several rounds of chemo, seizure medication and the latest treatment was radiation. He is currently on his 4th round of brain cancer in the same spot.
His cancer has forced him to quit work, receive disability and is now on a fixed income. He has medical bills for doctors appointments, radiation, chemotherapy, MRI scans, CT scans, speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc. He has been trying his best to make ends meet but with all the mounting medical bills it has become impossible. My sister and I would really appreciate any support that anyone can give. This would be a huge stress relief for him and our family. Thank you and God Bless!
