F.A.T (Fabulous and Trendy) Plus Size Runway

Hi, my name is Lucy and I started my small fashion brand (Lucy Wilkins Fashion) at the start of 2020 when I lost all my work as a theatrical Costume Designer due to the pandemic closing theatres. Even as a child I dreamt of one day being able to show my work on a runway with diverse and plus-size models. On March 4th 2023 this dream finally came true.

F.A.T (Fabulous and Trendy) Plus Size Runway was a historic event in Melbourne Fashion history being the first plus-size dedicated fashion show and the first to have size 24 models. We featured plus-size models of diverse cultural backgrounds some of which were also gender and neuro-diverse. The runway showcased the work of 6 small, Melbourne-based, size-inclusive brands and helped connect fat folks with clothing options that will help them express themselves.

After the wonderful reception we received from the 2023 F.A.T Runway I decided to produce the show again in 2024 with new brands and more models (including models up to size 28). There are a lot of costs involved in putting on a show like this including; venue hire, cast and crew wages, set dressing materials, advertising, royalties and insurance. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover these costs with ticket sales alone as our venue doesn't have a large enough seating capacity and we want to keep tickets affordable.
