Fashion Film 'Everywhere and Nowhere' - Graduation Project

EVERYWHERE AND NOWHERE
Where is home? Where are you from? For Third Culture Kids (TCKs), this simple question can often be difficult to answer. Our sense of 'home' is fragmented, shaped by multiple cultures, yet tied to none. Inspired by Kate Mayberry’s description of TCKs as ‘citizens of everywhere and nowhere,’ this paradox defines the TCK experience.
WHY AM I MAKING THIS?
‘Everywhere and Nowhere’ is more than just a fashion film — it's my way of expressing my personal journey as a TCK. Through this short film, I hope to give voice to the emotional struggles of identity, offering encouragement and validation to anyone who has ever felt lost or longed for a place to belong, whether as a TCK or not.
INTRODUCTION
The film explores the feeling of rootlessness and the yearning to belong, using Monopoly as a metaphor. The protagonist, grappling with a sense of displacement, plays the game with friends who have clear senses of home. As the game progresses, she collects properties from cities around the world but is unable to build a home, lacking the matching colour sets required by the game’s rules. Meanwhile, her friends establish homes, deepening her sense of isolation.
I’m reaching out to ask for your support in bringing this vision to life. Your contribution will help cover essential production costs — from equipment and styling to catering, art direction, and more. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to making this meaningful story a reality. By supporting this project, you're helping me tell a story that could make others feel seen and understood
Thank you for believing in this project and for helping bring a story that might make someone feel a little more seen.
