Farris Family Support

Just wanted to update all of you who generously donated to the original post regarding my friends and coworkers the Farris' whose son is battling lung cancer.  Thank you to all who prevuously donated and if at all possible, please share this far and wide.  Outside of his team of medical professionals and close family, there is not much anyone can do; easing some financial worry is all I can think of to help support their battle.  Damien and Laura are both teachers and going back to work full time while their son is hospitalized and fighting for his health to return has been a difficult choice, but for this young family facing an unknown but hopeful future, full time work and the insurance is an unquestionable necessity  Here is Laura's update on Raif's journey: "Raif had radiation therapy in February to target the lesions on his lungs. He has had 3 different five- day in patient stays to receive two types of chemo each day. After every five day stay his blood numbers drop and we usually end up back in the hospital so he can get blood. April 1st we entered the hospital for what we thought was going to be an over night stay for blood, but his oxygen dropped, they heard fluid in his lungs and he spiked a temperature. He is still in the hospital on oxygen, has had 2 blood transfusions, many IV antibiotics and a bronchoscope. They have determined he has a fungal infection in his lungs. We are not sure when he will get out of the hospital. He spent Easter and his birthday in patient. His spirits are high, but this has been extra taxing on Damien and I as we went back to in person learning this week. We have been supported by our parents. They have been helping us by sitting with him in the hospital when we had to be at school. We appreciate all the love and support."
