Did you know that the Rondout Valley Growers Association now has Farm-to-School programming in all three school districts of the Rondout Valley?
$10 buys sweet potatoes for a whole classroom to have a tasting.
$20 buys "I Love Rondout Valley Farms" stickers for kids who participate in Farm-to-School programming.
$50 buys enough strawberries for an entire grade in elementary school to do a tasting.
$100 pays for Farm-to-School materials for a classroom for one school year.
$200 pays a farmer to take a day away from their busy harvest schedule to give in-depth farm tours to school children, many of whom have never been to a farm.
This vital education provides our students with healthy, local, farm-fresh snacks; brings actual farmers markets to city schools; and offers field trips to farms where kids learn how and where their food is grown.
All of this programming is possible thanks to you - RVGA's wonderful supporters!
Exciting things are happening:
- This year we've already provided over 500 locally grown snacks to our students...with at least 3,000 more to come!
- Six bus-loads of children are scheduled to visit Rondout Valley farms
- Our farmers are collaborating to produce cafeteria-ready products specifically to feed school kids
- Healthy after-school snacks are in the works for kids who stay late for learning or sports
The RVGA is committed to giving our children the education they need to make healthy eating choices and foster pride in their local agricultural heritage.
100% of your donations will fund RVGA's Farm-to-School programs. Our goal of $7500 reflects our shared commitment to ensuring equal access to healthy, locally-grown food and education for all of our families with young children.
Please give today - every dollar counts!!!
