Research for Agroecology Farm-School in Cameroon

Help us in our research to foster food security, economic opportunity, and strong communities in rural Cameroon!

We are Marta, Valentina, Gustave and Hannah, four master’s students at the Graduate Institute Geneva. With our local partners AS2D (Association for Solidarity and Sustainable Development) and ADD (Alternatives Durables pour le Développement) and the NGO Tereo, we aim to start an agroecology farm-school in Cameroon, Douala region. To do so, we need to do a field-research and we ask for your help to fund it!

The Douala region in Cameroon faces increasing food insecurity in a context of increasing food prices, low-economic opportunities (especially for women and youth), and internal-displacement due to the conflicts in northern Cameroon.

This project aims to establish an agroecology farm-school to provide free-of-charge training courses to local farmers, and unemployed youth and women. The goal of the training-center will be to foster the transition locally towards sustainable agricultural practices, create opportunities for women and disadvantaged youth, and increase the resilience of the local community.

We are in the first stages of the project, which consists of doing a field research. The field research will enable to work together with the local partner and local community to understand best the local needs, for setting up a farm-school that is adapted to the local context.

Our research mission is scheduled to take place from mid-January to mid-February 2023. We are seeking to raise 3000 EUR to cover the following costs: flights, transportation, accommodation, and research activities. All funds raised will be allocated to the field research.
