Nicholson dairy

Hi everyone my name is David Neumann and along with my beautiful wife Arina we moved from Sydney to our peaceful farm in Hannam Vale NSW. Hannam Vale is located on the mid north coast of NSW and is home of spectacular natural beauty. Its renowned for fertile soil and high rainfall, making it perfect for dairying and stunning hardwood forests.
As you are all aware we have recently endured the worst floods on record. With this comes heartbreak and devastation. They breed them tough up here, especially when it comes to farming families.
We recently met up with a good friend of ours. Now this fella is a legendary dairy farmer who has been in the valley all his life. In fact, his father cleared the land, built the road and built the house from scratch where we live today on our farm. We had a burger and a chat. I asked him how he was doing. His reply was, he was doing better than others in the area. Now I don’t think he’d slept for a week. His farm didn’t have cows being washed away but he was dumping 10,000L of milk per day as the trucks weren’t able to get through. But he never claimed hardship or complained. We continued to chat and he told us about a young dairy farming family who were not in a good place. It was bad. They need help. The dairy had just been re built after a flood in 2021. They re built to flood proof the dairy from flood levels previously set only to be swamped by 1m through the entire place. No planning could have ever been possible. The Nicholson family are a wonderful enthusiastic vibrant farming family who have had the wind knocked from their sails. They need help. We realise we can’t raise funds for everyone but I think we can let the Nicholson family know that we are all thinking about them and doing about as much as we can to get them on their feet, slowly.
Arina and I have donated nearly 500kg of oranges and mandarins to help feed the families and volunteers who are in the area at present. We formed alliances with the Sikh community, Lions club, Baptist Church, Christian ministries and every day people off their own backs making sandwiches and soups driving through ground zero feeding people, families and volunteers on the ground.
Today we completed our second phase of delivering fresh picked fruit. Our neighbours on nearby farms also contributed with fruit and products produced by them from their farms. Thanks to Helen and Hamish from Old Fig Farm for donating amazing organic salad dressings and bespoke cordials. To those who picked fruit for us at drop off locations. Thank you.
Going forward we have provided food and nutrition for those who need it. This is a long run. Resilience will be tested.
I am now asking you all to give a little or as much as you feel comfortable with.

We will now open our virtual fruit and produce shop. Selling our organic produce and cattle feed.
What’s for sale you ask?

Organic fruit $10kg
Cattle feed Square bales $25 per bale
Cattle feed Round bales $150 per bale

Feel free to combine produce or purchase multiple kilos of fruit.

All funds raised will go directly to Sam and his family to feed their cattle.
