Farm flood recovery.
Hello,
My name is Michael. We are in need of help due to our farm being flooded. We lost all of our crops for the year and have damages all over. We were raising sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, potatoes, root vegetables, and pumpkins. All of these things have either washed away or been destroyed. We are a new, small family farm, not a giant commercial outfit. We try to sell our produce at the end of our lane to help support our family. My wife and I both work full time jobs. We come home tired and keep slugging away once we get here to tend the crops and care for our animals. As anyone knows, farming isn't easy. We don't mind the hard work because we know this provides us and our three children with healthy food and a wonderful place to live. Unfortunately, the hard work we have put in, the countless hours, and money spent in anticipation of a harvest has quite literally been washed away. I am not one to ask for help in most circumstances, but I don't have a choice. Soon the weather will be turning. Our fuel oil tanks for the furnace are empty. Some of the crop money would have covered this expense. We will not have produce for canning and preserving. This means we will need to spend much more to keeps meals on the table. The amount I posted honestly would not cover the crop losses but I didn't know what to ask for. The flood just happened two days ago, we haven't even surveyed the entirety of the other damages. There are fences in really bad shape and damages to the bridges that cross the creek that we have found so far. Thank you for anything you can do to help us.
Michael
