FARID’S DREAM……..TO BE ABLE TO WALK
Farid is a 6 years old boy who has never walked. He was born with Arthrogryposis Congenita so that when he was born his legs were folded like a pretzel. Farid was born in Honduras- one of the poorest countries in the American continent-where he lives with his mother and father. The deformity in his legs does not allow him to walk and even as a 5 year-old his parents had to carry him to his first day in school. He does not even have a wheelchair. Two years ago his parents were advised for Farid to have amputations of both legs. However, Farid and his parents have held tight to his dream of being able to walk on his own- even if it means using braces and crutches all his life. He now moves around by “scooting” on his knees, where he has developed large calluses.
Through the generous help of a loving couple and friends, Farid and his parents have traveled to the United States, to have surgery that will hopefully change his life and allow him to walk with braces and crutches.
Farid and his parents say that coming to the U.S. for medical care was their “First Miracle.” They pray that their “Second Miracle” will come true: that surgery and rehabilitation will give Farid a chance to walk. You can make the miracle happen. You can Help Farid Walk.
Costs are estimated at $40,000 and any contribution you can make will help make Farid’s miracle come true.
