Farewell To Betty
Donation protected
On Friday the 9th of May 2025, I lost the person that meant the most to me in this world, my wonderful Mum, or Betty as most of you knew her by.
I was with mum until the end, she slipped away in my arms surrounded by love on Friday evening. For every tear that I've shed (and there've been many!), they’ve been immediately replaced by moments of gratitude for having such a truly amazing, kind and beautiful mum.
She proudly cheered me on with every adventure, life hurdle and achievement and it was my mum that taught me that a hug really is the one true gift which comes in a size that fits everyone!
I’d like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who has reached out over the last few days. Your kind words and messages of support mean more to me than I can express and I hope you can understand that it will be a few days before I'm able to respond to each of them personally.
To celebrate my mum’s life, and to say our goodbyes, we are gathering at Massey Bros. Funeral Home in Blackrock (details below) this Wednesday, the 14th, between 4-7pm.
All are welcome and if I can please suggest that we leave the flowers in the ground, and bring just yourself wearing a colourful piece of clothing to acknowledge and celebrate Betty’s unique way of always looking at the bright side of life.
My mum was such a special lady and although she’d generally run from any opportunity where she might somehow be the centre of attention, I’m so very grateful that we can now let her know just how much she meant to each of us.
Arrangements for ‘Betty’ Elizabeth Handyside:
Date & Time: 4-7pm on Wednesday, the 14th of May.

would be hugely appreciated), i'd like to thank you in advance.
Peace
