Fareezah's Ramadan Fundraiser!

With your continuous support since 2016, Fareezah Educational Initiative now operates from a purpose-built school building we rent in Kotha Kalan. Providing quality education to over 200 students from underprivileged backgrounds has been a long but fulfilling journey.

Current Fareezah campus in Kotha Kalan, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
The need to educate out-of-school children was identified in Kotha Kalan, Rawalpindi, by the mother-daughter duo Rehana Khurshid & Sehrish K. Saddozai. These children would play all day while their parents were attending to homes and children of affluent families or were laboring away.
Most of these out-of-school children still needed a birth certification form, which is essential for enrollment in the local Government School near Kotha Kalan. Parents were also reluctant to send their young children alone there because of the distance from homes, as the majority could not accompany them to and from school due to the timing and nature of their work.

Parents and distinguished guests of Fareezah
The financially hard-pressed parents who were also migrants to this area could not prioritize their children's education amidst many financial hardships. Most migrant workers resided in Kotha Kalan while serving in the neighboring affluent communities of DHA, Morgah, and New Lalazar in Rawalpindi.

Sehrish & her mother with Ms Tahira (class teacher) & Nursery class
Sehrish and her mother decided to take on the responsibility of educating three children of their house-help in 2016. With the help of friends who supported the mission financially and helped raise funds from their social circles, Sehrish started looking after the educational responsibility of 17 children. The initiative grew with more students enrolling at Fareezah over time. The core leadership team was formed - Sehrish Saddozai, Fatimah Baig, Aiman Rathore, Isra Shabir & Saad Malik, which continues to fundraise, supervise, and strategize for Fareezah alongside a stellar on-the-ground management team.

Today, the Fareezah Educational Initiative teaches around 200 underprivileged children in its newly rented, purpose-built Kotha Kalan, Rawalpindi campus.
The literal meaning of Fareezah is “to take personal responsibility”. We started with the belief and continue to operate with the same ethos that financially comfortable individuals have a religious, moral, and social commitment to pay it forward for the opportunities life has afforded them. It is an ethical duty for them to narrow the opportunity gap for the less fortunate by extending a helping hand.
At Fareezah, we envision an equitable and inclusive world where all children are provided similar opportunities to prosper. To achieve this vision, we provide free quality education to underprivileged children from deprived communities to give them the same head start. Fareezah is a non-governmental, non-profit initiative that aims to reduce out-of-school children in Pakistan by building their educational foundation up to primary grades and later equipping them with tools and a prepared mind to continue their higher education at a nearby Government school.

Fareezah is solely being run from donations from individuals. That is to say, we don’t have any governmental, foreign, or non-governmental organizations funding our mission. All the donations come from kind-hearted people like you who just want to positively impact society. Your donations ensure the continuation of good work being done at Fareezah.
Every year, in the blessed month of Ramadan, we seek help from friends of Fareezah to continue our mission of educating underprivileged children. We are Zakat eligible.

The impact of your donations can be felt daily at Fareezah in the many lives positively affected by our cause of free and quality education for all. All donations go towards educating these children, getting their books, paying teachers’ salaries, and holding community events to raise awareness about the impact education can have in the Kotha Kalan community.
The mission for this eighth year (2024-2025) of operations at Fareezah is to utilize our total capacity, reach out to more children in more impoverished neighborhoods around Kotha Kalan, and provide an enabling environment for them to integrate into the educational stream. Fareezah can comfortably educate around 300 children at any given time. We want to expand our work while maintaining the quality and individual care each child receives at Fareezah.
Please see our 2024-25 Annual Budget below:

Goals 2024-2025:
In the 2024-2025 academic session, Fareezah’s goal is to enroll 70 more students for the upcoming academic session bringing its total beneficiaries to 250. We want to get 3000 notebooks printed this year, buy security cameras to ensure the security of children at all times and purchase a projector screen and other educational aids to instill learning through play.

The core team works year round to help Fareezah in various ways. We mainly fundraise for Fareezah within our social network and look after Fareezah voluntarily as a moral and ethical responsibility, not taking a single rupee for ourselves from the funds we raise each year. So every rupee counts. Our family members, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances have supported Fareezah's work over the years. May all the supporters for Fareezah be rewarded for their generosity and continued support for its mission.
We are grateful for your continued support for our work!
