About Me

My name is Trà My Trần, a Vietnamese living in London. I’m raising this fund on behalf of my dear friend Farah Qdeih, a young Palestinian woman from Gaza whose life was shattered by the ongoing war.

Due to the humanitarian crisis, Farah currently cannot access international banking or fundraising platforms herself. I will therefore be collecting the donations through this GoFundMe page in the UK and transferring all funds directly to Farah and her family via PayPal to support their daily needs, education, and safety.

Farah’s Story

“I am Farah, a young Palestinian woman from Gaza. I once dreamed of a peaceful life and a bright future. I was studying at university and living in a beautiful home full of hope and happiness. But the war suddenly turned everything to ashes.

My home was destroyed, my university ruined, and now my family of five and I are homeless. We have nothing but a fragile tent that offers no protection from the scorching summer heat or the bitter winter cold.

The second winter of displacement is approaching in Gaza, and temperatures at night can drop to as low as 4°C (around 40°F). The cold seeps through the thin fabric of our tent, and when it rains, water leaks inside, soaking our few belongings and making sleep impossible. We have no proper blankets, no heating, and no solid walls to keep the wind away. The thought of facing another winter like this terrifies us - especially for the children and the elderly.

We even struggle to prepare food due to the lack of cooking gas, and even filling water has become a daily challenge.

I am reaching out to you today for support and a chance to keep hope alive. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us regain a sense of safety and allow me to continue my studies and build a better life for my family.

Farah’s Dream - To Study at the University of Glasgow

Despite losing nearly everything, Farah still holds on to one dream, to continue her education. She hopes to study under the Dima Al-Haj Scholarship at the University of Glasgow, a program that supports Palestinian students affected by conflict.

Farah’s determination is unwavering. Even while living in a tent and enduring daily hardship, she continues to write to universities seeking opportunities to rebuild her future. Below is an excerpt from the letter I recently sent to the University of Glasgow on her behalf:

“Farah has a strong desire to apply for a Bachelor’s degree under the Dima Al-Haj Scholarship. However, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza makes it impossible for her to renew her passport or take an English test such as IELTS or TOEFL at this time.

I have reached out to the University to ask whether she could be considered for conditional admission once her situation allows, and if there are additional forms of support available for students facing extraordinary hardship. Farah’s resilience and hope truly embody the values this scholarship represents.”
