Faqeer Lala needs us. Help an Acid Burns Victim

Donation protected
This is Faqeer hussain, a rickshaw driver in Peshawar, Pakistan.
In October 2020, he prevented two men from harassing the women he had in his rickshaw. In revenge, they threw acid on him, disfiguring him permanently as well as blinding him.

In one flash, Faqeer Lalas life has been forever altered. The sole breadwinner of his family, he has two young daughters and no source of income. I read the news and approached a brave Medical Student who put it on twitter. Through crowdfunding they were able to collect some money for him and he was able to have a few operations.

But he has his whole life ahead of him, as well as that of his children. His eye sight has not been restored and he is desperately searching for the way ahead. A way, which seems extremely dim. In my home country of Pakistan, the government announces many a funds and scheme to help these victims. They never materialize.  While  the perpetrators of this crime go scot free, in a  country where it is all to common and there are many a tales of jilted lovers throwing acid on their lovers faces, or acid thrown to extract revenge, Faqeer Hussain is destined to just be another statistic, left in the hands of others, a life ruined.

I am trying to make his ending different. A better one, a more secure one for his family and children.

I have contacted a Foundation which specialises in acid burn victims and am waiting to hear back from them. People are donating and we are looking at some way to let this be a more stable income, something which will give him a livelihood for life. For him, the life of his children, is very important. Their marriage, their lives, their responsibilities all weight heavily upon him.

This is extremely urgent. I do not know if medically anything can be done such a skin grafting, restoring his sight and I will be adjusting the donation amount once doctors ascertain how he can be helped, but the need of the day is to set him up with a life. Some life worth living for.

Here is a video taken at his home. It is in his local language, but actions, mannerisms and human emotions need no words. This is a brave man, beaten by his circumstances and his life destroyed by evil, when all he was doing was the right thing.

Any amount helps. Any one caring helps.
