Hello All,
My name is Brooke Rosales and I am writing on behalf of my beautiful friend and neighbor, Jessica Batayola. She is such a positive force to be around and I feel so blessed and fortunate to have her in my life.
Jessica and her husband, Marlowe have four children, yes four! Their children are Mason 6, Russell 4, Demi 3, and Phoebe 2. The Batayolas (The Bat Crew) moved into the neighborhood two years ago and we quickly became friends. We love to have dinners, beach days, and go to Tae Kwon Do! Jessica’s new passion is to attend the adult class at our Tae Ryong Saugus Tae Kwon Do Studio. Jessica is one tough mommy! She loves to participate during the sparring class and breaking boards...
This past Easter, Jessica's life was turned upside down. Jessica felt a "lump" on the right side of her breast, while giving herself a self-examination. Jessica acted quickly and contacted her doctor. Since Jessica is only 35, she has never had a mammogram. Once she was at the doctor, she had an ultrasound on the lump. The ultrasound showed the lump AND a second lump. The lumps have been tested and Jessica has been diagnosed as Stage One Breast Cancer, HER2 positive and both lumps are invasive. This is an aggressive cancer! Jessica's medical treatments will be at USC Medical Center, where she has become an offical member of their VIP Cancer Club.
Jessica is scheduled for a double mastecomy on May 17th (Mason's 7th Birthday) where she will #fightlikeagirl. She will then start chemothearpy shortly after, which will last a year.
Now with all that being said with great strength and perseverance sometimes asking for help is not Jessica and Marlowe's strong suit, which is where I come in. All of Jessica's strongest efforts have to be accompanied with treatments and procedures, which are costly and not always covered by insurance. Not to mention time away from her children, where they will need help with childcare.
Jessica is bound and determined to kick cancer's ass, but her and her family need some extra financial support to assist with the fight. As her friend, please join me in helping anyway you can financially, spiritually and emotionally.
