Fanny (and Kim) Need You Right Now!

Three things you know if you know Kim:

1) If you know Kim, you know Fanny. The two are like inseparable souls forged together by a love made of steel: unbreakable, and the very foundation of our nation's railway system. (Little known fact: San Francisco would not have become a boom town were it not for the love between Kim and Fanny that made the railways possible. You're welcome, sourdough enthusiasts.)

2) If you know Kim, you also know what it's like to be on the receiving end of that kind of love. If you've met Kim for any more than five minutes, guaranteed at some point she has selflessly gone waaaaaaay above-and-beyond and out of her way to help you – often unasked – the second there's even a *hint* that you're in need: whether that's running an urgent errand on your behalf, sending a ridiculously thoughtful cheer-up care package, or driving fourteen hours straight through hellish storms to see you through your ab0r$hion (yep, she did that for me).

(Fanny also drove in the rain that trip. She and her funky bell-bottoms are very in favor of women's rights.)

3) Lastly, if you know Kim, you know she's about to end my friendship with her for starting this GoFundMe. The same golden light in her that makes her so quick to help others (y'all, she's on a first-name basis with the unhoused people in her neighborhood and buys them their favorite food when she sees them) is the same part of her that makes her IMPOSSIBLE to help because she always puts others first and refuses to let other people do anything for her. Welp, I'm not gonna let her do that this time, even if it costs me my friendship with her. IT'S PAYBACK TIME, BISH.

LET'S DO THIS

As most of you probably know, Fanny has been fighting valiantly for her life for some time now. Unfortunately, on Saturday things grew critical when Fanny lost the use of her legs and began foaming at the mouth with a gray tongue, indicating her body was not able to get enough oxygen. She was rushed to the ER with a collapsed trachea on the verge of dying from cardiac arrest. Thankfully, as she always has, she turned a corner and came back kicking. She's a badass bittie who refuses to give up.

And Kim, the ever-selfless human she is, refuses to give up on her, too. She's committed to fighting for her as her champion for as long as Fanny is willing to keep trying, too.

...Which, as you know, adds up to INSANELY expensive vet bills. (It's criminal, let's be honest.) We're talking thousands upon thousands upon thousands and...oof. It just keeps going. No matter how much you prepare for such an expensive, you take a HARD hit, and it can take a looong time to recover from that. The $5K goal is just a fraction of what this type of care costs.

(Fanny knows. Look at that exhaustion just thinking about how fucked our system is! ^^^)

It's absolutely terrible that in our society, people essentially risk going bankrupt or having to choose to end their best friend's life, and no one, especially Kim, should have to be in that position.

So that's why we're starting this GoFundMe.

If Kim has ever shown up for you (which, again, if you're reading this it's likely because you know her which means she DEFINITELY has), or if you're just an animal lover and want to throw Fanny your support and show her that the world gives a shit about animal welfare, please throw some money in the pot.

Think of it this way: imagine the next time you see Kim. Would you want to buy Kim a cup of coffee, or a nice dinner as a treat? Great. Donate that money here instead. It will go a LONG way toward getting Fanny the desperate help she needs, and ensuring Kim's life doesn't suffer a major setback simply because she's choosing to support her best friend in the same way she's always done (and will continue to do) for all of us.

And don't hold back in your generosity, ya ninnies. You and I both know that Kim – and Fanny – fucking deserve it, and if I'm going to lose my friendship with Kim over starting this GoFundMe, at least make it god damn worth it. Let's flood Kim with the same amount of love she's poured out into the world (and then some!) and show her just what she and Fanny mean to us.
