Fannie Lou Hamer Institute
The Fannie Lou Hamer Institute (FLHI) was founded to promote the name, history, legacy and accomplishments of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer and her leadership in the civil and human rights movement and as a freedom fighter. Mrs. Hamer efforts in voter registration and education opened up the democratic process and set a model still being followed today. The FLHI mission is to educate, engage and involve people on racial and social justice issues, to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and training within the Black community and to live up to the trails blazed by Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer. The Fannie Lou Hamer Institute is a Los Angeles-based Black-led organization with over 180 years of experience in community, labor and election organizing.
In this critical moment for Black social justice, it's clear that the infrastructure to support Black organizing, leadership, and civic engagement is more critical now than ever. That's why the Fannie Lou Hamer Institute, a 5013c organization, is embarking on an ambitious fundraising and collaboration campaign to prepare for the pending election season with a focus on new and youth voters. FLHI will continue and advance the fight for racial and social justice.
The Fannie Lou Hamer Institute is connecting and building on the history and lessons of sister Fannie Lou Hamer. Make your donation today.
