Fanka's top surgery
Donation protected
Hi,
You may know me as Fanka, a tattoo artist. I'm also trans and have been planning my top surgery for the past 5 years. The time has finally come! I originally hoped to pay my top surgery on my own but I had to realize that it is not feasable for me. Therefore I opted for crowdfunding. I believe in community, I believe in asking for help, I believe that trans healthcare should be accessible and free. Until it is, I hope the people who can, will donate to help me on my journey.
I grew up in Hungary where currently trans people are demonized, trans healthcare is nearly erased. I immigrated to the Netherlands not long ago. My biological family abandoned me, my father and his side have passed away during my teenage years and early twenties. Despite of a heavy 10 years of abuse and losses I now celebrate my community of friends and chosen family who make me feel loved and help me heal. But because of the lack of family background I don't have any savings or funds for this surgery. The Dutch healthcare system is actively rejecting my attempts to recieve gender affirming care. But even if I got on the waitlist, it would be years before I could recieve my top surgery through my insurance. I have an autoimmune disease so I plan to have this surgery as soon as possible while my body is more flexible with recovery.
My story is not unique. Many trans people face at-home and systemic abuse. Trans people of color have paved the way for the lgbtq+ community, however they are still the most discriminated and violated group. And while I hope to fully crowdfund my surgery I recognize my priviledge.
