Help families get their person back from strokes
I may not be able to move mountains, but I will climb them.
On the 31st of May this year, I’ve decided to celebrate my 23rd birthday by taking on the UK 3 Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours. That’s three mountains, one day and two sore knees.
If you think I’m mad, you’re right but I’m sure the joy I get from my friends grunts and suffering will propel me through this challenge as they have been forced to join me.
This challenge is in memory of my superhero dad, who has been lost to a stroke in October 2023. In this myself and my family grieved twice. First, the dad I knew so well, with his energy, bounce and presence, then letting go of his physical form.
In his honour, my friends and I are raising money for the Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group, a charity that helps individuals and their families rebuild after the unthinkable. It’s a lifeline of hope which offers a chance for loved ones to reconnect, communicate, and find pieces of themselves again. If there had been even a chance that I would get part of my dad back, I would’ve held onto it with everything I had.
So I’m walking (climbing, scrambling, possibly crying) for every family who still has that chance.
If you’d like to contribute with emotional support, cheer us on or any donation big or small, it would mean the world. And if not, just wish us luck and maybe send plasters.
Thank you for your time.
