We would like to introduce to you a very special patient of ours, Oscar Lopez. He has been a part of our patient family for a little over four years now and he has never entered our doors without a smile and a cheerful disposition. You would never know of the medical struggles he has faced by looking at him. Driving out of town three times a week for dialysis, this 27 year old knows a very different “normal life”.

Oscar was first diagnosed with kidney issues in the 3rd grade. He shared with us his ultimate goal to get on the donor list for a new kidney, as he was born with only one and its irregular shape has caused multiple health complications. He even made a personal goal and lost over 100lbs in order to get a higher placement on the transplant list. Oscar was recently called on to receive a kidney but later rejected. Despite having full medical insurance, an immediate funds requirement policy of $5,000 was required to accept that kidney, so they gave it to the next person. Ultimately, Oscar was removed from the transplant list for this monetary reason.

To say the least we are devastated and want to show him how much we care. We will be featuring him as our February Patient of the Month by hosting a fundraising campaign to regain his place on the transplant list. Help us reach our goal of raising $5,000 for Oscar’s new kidney.
