Family with a disabled child managing life

I am asking to raise funds for my dear friend who is trying to present her dissertation as a PhD student in one week.

She is a student in the US trying very hard to support her family while taking care of her 24 year old special needs son. With her student status, they cannot work much and are struggling to make it. Just few days ago her husband was asked to undergo an urgent heart surgery but refuses because he needs to help care for their disabled son along with support his wife present her PhD defense to its committee within a week.

As a mom of a child with special needs, I know all too well the financial burden and the human toll it takes to care of our special needs children. We love our kiddos and would do anything for them even if it means to run on 3 hrs of sleep yet keep a smile on our face.

However, there can be times like these when it becomes extremely difficult to make it on our own. As a Muslim community, it’s incumbent upon us to help this family in dire need. I’m sorry but I cannot share their details but they are foregoing a major surgery than to ask for help. As good Muslims, they try their hardest to do the best for their family, but it’s very tough on families when parents are aging yet taking care of their adult disabled children. Despite all this, she’s completing her PhD Alhumdulillah. How many of us have the resilience to do that without the hurdles of becoming care givers to our adult children? SubhanAllah she knows she cannot give up. Allah has not put this burden on you, Alhumdulillah. But Allah has put a responsibility upon you to help families like these without ask.

Special needs children/adults require special care which is costly. Please help raise some funds to provide some much needed respite care so they can hire a care giver for their son, purchase meals etc at least for this week so the family can take care of their medial and educational needs to continue supporting their family.
