Family trip of a life time! ❤️✈️

Hi my name is Kristy,

I just want to start by saying thank you for taking the time to read this. Over the last 4 to 5 years I have watched my friends go through some of the worst things you could possibly go through in your life and just when you think its over, it comes back and hits you full whack in the face! Some of you will know Lisa and Carl and some of you may just be here to support me with what I'm about to do but for the people that dont know their story, here it is in a very cut down version...

My friend Carl was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2018 after repeatedly going back and forth to the GP with severe back pain. After seeing 3 separate GPs, multiple trips to A&E and the walk in centre, Lisa Carl's wife raised her concerns and demanded he be checked when she wasn't happy that Carl had not been examined after telling them that he had found 2 lumps... Finally Carl was examined and taken seriously and within days he had a CT, MRI and a biopsy which confirmed that Carl had testicular cancer stage 3c and that it had spread to the lymph nodes at the back of his stomach and up into his neck. Since then Carl has had many rounds of chemotherapy, multiple major surgeries one in which they had to remove nearly 13 cm of tumours and one of his kidneys. After going through over a year of treatments, complications and surgery Carl got the all clear... until September last year.

After being monitored closely we had the devastating news that the cancer had returned and since then Carl has had to have more chemotherapy followed by major surgery that was aborted as it was too close to his remaining kidney and aorta with high risk of bleeding out on the table. He has had blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, brutal high dose chemotherapy where he has been in hospital for weeks and weeks at a time, not being able to see his daughter. Stem cell harvesting and stem cell transplants and loss his sight for a period of time to name a few.

Last week Carl was told that the cancer is not responding to chemotherapy anymore...The next step is to try radiotherapy starting from next week...

So to bring this family some sunshine in this storm I have decided to shave my head in a few weeks time (Saturday 11th November) to hopefully raise enough to give this family the most beautiful memories after such a hard and still on going year. To raise awareness on cancer.. especially testicular cancer!

Carl, Lisa his wife and their daughter Nevaeh have all been through so much this past year barely keeping their heads above water and I would love nothing more then to give them the most wonderful break away and create some beautiful memories.

I believe that we all have the power to make a difference and that's why I'm reaching out to ask for help to give my best friends a trip of a life time.
