Helping Brasen Recover from plane crash
Donation protected
Four Family members barely escaped from an airplane that went down and burst into flames on Thursday, October 14th, near a private airstrip in Sacramento County.
The four survivors are in stable condition with extensive burns and injuries that will leave them in the hospital for weeks.
Brasen Dakota Breedlove, 13, was severely burned, lacerated, and was the last one to pull himself out of the burning plane right when it exploded. In fact, all four passengers pulled themselves out within seconds of escaping the inevitable. By the grace of God, they are living miracles.
Brasen lives with his mom, Gingerly, and step dad, Matt in Merlin, Oregon. All of Brasen’s personal belongings were burned in the crash. He has extensive burns and lacerations - and is being treated at a Burn Center Hospital in California. His wounds are bad enough that they need to keep him there for an undetermined amount of time, and he may require surgery. The doctors say Brasen will recover, but it will be a long and painful road. His mother and father are staying with him at the hospital in California during his recovery.
Brasen is in a constant state of shock and pain - physically and emotionally. There is no estimate on how long he will need to be treated in the hospital, as well as future follow up care and therapy.
Accidents are just that - an accident. We never know when an accident will happen to us. There are no warnings given so you can plan ahead to be financially and emotionally prepared. You just get the horrible phone call and then your whole world flips upside down. You’re not worried about work, money, or the home you have to leave for an uncertain amount of time. Brasen’s mom got that heart stopping phone call that said- ‘your son was in a horrible plane crash, he’s burned, injured and barely made it out alive’. Having a prepared plan at that moment is not an option, you just go.
As friends, family, and community we are heart sick by this news. Our goal is to alleviate financial burden for medical costs, time off of work, clothing, travel and lodging. The stress of your child being in critical condition in another state is bad enough. To have to worry about the unexpected costs adds more stress to an already unimaginable nightmare. Anything you can contribute is helpful and appreciated.
We also ask to keep Brasen and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they undergo extensive treatments and transition into recovery.
If donating at this time isn't accessible, spreading this page is a great help as well.
Update 10/15/2021
Brasen is home in Oregon with his Mom and Step Dad. He has a follow appointment on the 19th at Shriners in Sacramento. His 3rd degree burns are slowly healing, he will have continued care for the next year for his scars.
His Mom has had to rent a car due to another unrelated accident that happened during this past month that left them with one vehicle to share between his Mom and Step Dad. This has been another added expense that they are having to deal with on top of the plane crash.
Please continue to share.
Thank you .
