Family Support Fund for Brian, Nikki and the Kids

Hey Everyone

This is Teri, Brian's older sister. We are setting up an account to help Brian and Nikki with the overwhelming burden that Brian's illness has been on their family. Brian hasn't been able to work for many months and although they have applied for all the help they are eligible for, it has been very slow in coming. They have had support from their family with their living expenses, but it is a lot for any one person to cover.

At this point, Brian's only option is a liver. And he needs it soon. His liver is failing and of course, that takes a toll on all other body functions. Nikki has tried to balance work and taking care of Brian, but he needs her to be with him more now.

He went from St.Marys to KU where his liver team is. He was supposed to go before the transplant team this week, but they have pushed it back giving him more time to heal from this last incident before they evaluate him. He is scheduled to go to rehab next so he can get the ongoing care he needs.

All of the funds raised will be used strictly for rent, food, gas, and utilities, just the basics, nothing crazy. Their families will continue to help as much as possible, but any little bit you can add will be so appreciated. I am not usually much of a fan of things like this, but desperate times call for desperate measures! I see the toll it is taking on Brian to not be able to support his family and on Nikki. She wears herself out doing everything that needs to be done including taking care of the kids and working to support the family.

Thank you for your support, and even if you aren't in a position to help, please continue to keep this family in your prayers. These last few weeks have shown us miracles! Just a week ago, we were told he wouldn't breathe on his own again, two days later he was off the vent, easily breathing on his own and cracking jokes the second he was able to talk. Last week he couldn't even stand by himself, today he is taking laps around the hospital. He is a fighter! He just needs a chance. And his family just needs a little support to get through this!
