Family Support for Joe Manuel Rego

Joe and Mary Rose have been married for the last 46 years getting married back in 1974 when they were 23 and 21 respectively. For all of their married life Joe prided himself in being able to take care of her and their family.  As many of you may or may not know, Mary Rose is legally blind suffering from an eye disease called Stargardts Disease since she was 11 years old. Even with this disability, Mary took amazing care of Joe his whole life especially in the last few years when he started suffering from heart and renal failure.  She took on the role of primary caregiver learning new skills similar to what a full time nurse would be skilled in. 

Most of their married life Mary did not work as they both felt it was the best decision for their family going forward, that she stay home to take care of the kids and the home. Joe was a hardworking construction man always able to provide for what ever her or the children needed.  Over the years to assist with her disability Mary has relied on various visual aids, not covered by insurance, to help keep her independent so that Joe could continue to work and support the family.

Joe and Mary have touched so many lives, always doing for others before themselves no matter the cost of time or money. Now that she is to face her life without Joe by her side nor without him to support her, she will need new visual aid equipment to allow her to move forward into this next chapter of her life. We humbly reach out to our family and friends to help Joe continue to support Mary from the grave.
