Family support during TJ's cancer treatment.
My 15 year old nephew TJ was admitted to the hospital recently with a persistent cough and trouble catching his breath. The CT scan uncovered a large mediastinal tumor occupying the majority of his upper left chest cavity near his heart. He was rushed to Children's Hospital where the oncology/hematology team of doctors made the difficult decision to perform a surgical biopsy of the mass for proper diagnosis. The risk of the mass collapsing his airway was high, so the procedure was performed under partial anesthesia.
Final diagnosis of the tumor was found to be T-cell Lymphoma with a 3.5 year projected treatment plan.
TJ will undergo weekly chemotherapy treatment for the foreseeable future and will then enter his maintenance therapy stage with monthly chemotherapy.
As many of you know TJ, then you know he is a fighter. We expect nothing but greatness from him and he continues to make us all proud with his level of strength and unwillingness to give up.
This sudden and tragic event has added many unplanned expenses to our lives.
We are kindly requesting any donations be made to support my sister and nephew during this difficult time and would be greatly appreciated!
