**This is an approved fundraiser for the family of Marthayn Manning**
On the morning of February 28, 2020, Marthayn was in a horrible accident on her way to substitute teach at Owyhee Combined School. There was a guy driving a huge recreational vehicle driving North. He stated he had been driving all night (up for 16hrs.) and drifted into her lane hitting her head on. We can only assume she tried to swerve which very well may have saved her life as she was blown out sideways from the front of the huge recreational vehicle instead of being crushed underneath. I will post the vehicle front photo.
She had to be extricated from the vehicle which took a long time due to the mangled state of her little Chevy Cruz. She was then life flighted to Saint Alphonsus Hospital to the Trauma surgery center.
It was initially thought the compound fracture to her left femur (bone end was poking out above her knee), clearly broken right ankle and right hand were the extent, but that was not so.
Both Femurs are broken, right heel is crushed, right lower leg, both lower arms, wrists, ankle, her shoulder blade, and collar bone. Four ribs (3-6) on her right side are broken, and she has a slight brain bleed. There is also a lumbar spine fracture as well as C5 and C6, the trauma surgeon has assured us these fractures are not such that they will damage her Spinal cord (thank God for yet another blessing), and her coccyx is also fractured, as well as staples (the most minor injury).
Mom has had surgery on her femurs, one rod, and one stabilized for future surgery to repair fully. She is intubated and sedated at least until after her arm surgeries tomorrow.
We are devastated and hurting for our Mom. We were completely terrified this morning when we first heard there was a “Bad accident” with “Extrication” and “Life Flight” by the Grace of God with Prayers and tears we are truly Blessed to still have our Mom on this earth with us. She has a very long journey ahead of her, we appreciate all prayers and good thoughts from you all, she is a kind and caring lady and I am sure she will appreciate all of the caring and prayers from everyone.
Please continue to Pray for Mom, she truly needs it and we believe in the power of prayer. Thank you all. <3
