Family-Owned Coffee Shop Vandalism & Repairs

(Updates below) Hello, my name is Erin Sarile, proud partner of Brian Molina who is the creator and brewtender behind our small business coffee shop, Home Brewed Bar. We’ve been happily serving our community with our very own in-house roasted coffee and cold brew teas for 10 years coming this November. We have all of you to thank you for our success. Our community is everything. We’re now humbly reaching out to you and asking for a little help.

Last night, we received a call from the Pasadena Police Dept. that our shop was vandalized. There are no known suspects, although witnesses mentioned it may have been an unhoused man passing through who happened upon our sandwich board sign and decided to crash it into our store front window.

Brian helped clean up the shattered glass in the middle of the night and made sure to get the window boarded up so he can serve coffee safely the next day. The next morning (today) he gets another surprising call about even more damage - this time it’s a dangerous leak affecting the offices just below our shop.

As a small business owner, you can only plan for so many unforeseen expenses. Today, we feel incredibly overwhelmed and for the first time as business owners, felt the need to reach out to our community for help.

Here are the expenses we need help with:

$560 for temporary boarded windows

$1065 for new window and logo

$1200 for new flooring

Total of $2825.

Your donations will go directly toward the repairs above. We want to emphasize to everyone that no amount is too small when donating, even sharing our gofundme would be much appreciated.

UPDATE, Sept 6, 9:53pm: Thank you all so much for your generosity and support! Our guests, regulars, family and friends all came through for us today. We are so grateful to have already passed our goal!

Incoming donations will remain open until the end of week so others who need time to contribute can. There is a portion gofundme takes from our goal that we didn’t account for, along with taxes and labor. We still very much need and appreciate your continued donations at this time.
