Thank you for your interest in our journey. My name is Travis Baten. My family and I experienced a traumatic house fire on Friday November 3rd, 2023.

I woke my niece up from her sleep and called her to the kitchen to inform her the food was ready and that I was going to run a quick errand. I informed her to tell my sister and her children that they can come eat now. As my niece walked to inform my sister that the food was ready, she noticed a fire in her room. I received a phone call from my sister, that the house had caught on fire.

I hurried back to find the entire home engulfed in flames. Thankfully, everyone made it out alive and uninjured. Two children have asthma and we have been able to replace their nebulizers and inhalers.

The property is currently uninhabitable and my family and I are in need of a place to relocate, not to mention everything else that we lost in the process. But we have each other.

There were 7 children and 3 adults living in the home. Everyone is safe and okay. However, the children are shaken.

As you can imagine, they are frightened from the tragic events they witnessed. I am thankful that I called my niece to the kitchen prior to the fire starting in her room otherwise, this situation could have been much worse.

We would appreciate any help from you and your family as we navigate this loss, work to relocate, and rebuild a sense of normalcy. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
