From a public news story...
"Three hospitalized in accidental Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputy shooting at firehouse

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputy accidentally shot a bullet into the floor of the Sonoita-Elgin Fire Station around noon on Wednesday, injuring three people.

The three victims were hit by either bullet fragments, debris, or sonic concussion and were treated at the hospital.

The deputy was placed on administrative leave while the case is being investigated internally."

On Feb 24, 2022, my brother-in-law, John Wright, was on duty as a paramedic near Tucson, AZ at the Sonoita-Elgin Fire Station and was one of those treated for injuries at the hospital. Since that incident, he has been battling many ongoing issues related to the incident and has entered treatment for 4 to 6 weeks at a facility out of state. His care will be covered by insurance. Due to technicalities at work, he is unable to receive the majority of his pay while he is away, but family expenses continue. John needs peace of mind knowing his family will be taken care of, so he can focus on his recovery. Your donation will help to keep the bills paid and caught up while he is away.

John has always worked hard to do what’s best for his family and is a dedicated husband and father. John teaches his now 15-year-old son practical skills, like routine car and home maintenance. When there were struggles in traditional school, John even considered quitting his job to home-school his son. John is very supportive of his wife – my sister, Sarah – and encourages her in her endeavors. He is a wise, charismatic man who carries a wealth of knowledge and abilities which he is always willing to share. He loves to help others whenever he has the opportunity. It is a pleasure to spend time with him as he shares information and stories with wit, wisdom and skill. When a medical situation arises or even a personal struggle, John is at the top of the list of people I would go to for advice, sharing, and information not only because of his current training as a paramedic but also because he is delightful to spend time with and easy to talk to. He has used his medical training and knowledge with lovingkindness while helping manage a difficult medical diagnosis with a family member. On top of his devotion to his family, John has also given himself to his community. Being a first responder, volunteering at his church, teaching survival skills, and offering his life experience to help others whenever possible... These are only a few of the ways he makes the world a better place. If you feel moved to do so, now is the time to offer your help to him so we can get him back to doing what he does best. Any amount helps. It all adds up. Thank you for your consideration. ~Deb Keen
