My name is Mike and I'm starting this GoFundMe ($5k) for my brother's cancer treatment.  We appreciate your time.

URGENT request for funds for the first round of Cancer Chemo treatment. 

"My name is Kelly W. Smith.  I'm a former sergeant of the US Army Military Police Corp.  I'm an honorably discharged veteran.  I'm a former police chief.  I was recently struck down by aggressive cancer that is killing me.  I lost my benefits while working contract law enforcement in the great state of Alaska.  I barely made it back to the state of Texas and am now in the hospital.  I need to start chemotherapy but do not have the means.  Thank you for the consideration in helping me fight for life." - Kelley

Brief details:
- Colon cancer
- Oncologist in El Paso, Texas will provide treatment on a cash basis at a fraction of the cost.
- This chemo treatment is to target a tumor that must be reduced by 6mm before it can be surgically removed.
- 9 liters of diaresis have been removed thus far due to cancer attacking the liver.

We are pursuing all avenues of support.  Veterans Affairs, Disability, Social Security, etc.

We know that fighting cancer out of pocket is going to cost far more than $5k but we must start somewhere.
