UPDATE: Today, July 29, would be Jose's birthday. Today marks two weeks since my client Jose received keys to their house and today he would have celebrated his birthday in his newly owned home but due to a senseless act of violence, his family will never have the opportunity to celebrate with him again. Please keep the family in your prayers as today is a very difficult day. Please reconsider sharing in all of your circles.
It started as an exciting week for the Rivera-Vargas family. After years of working towards home ownership, the dream was becoming real. They spent months looking for the right house, and finally found the perfect starter home for their family. On Monday, July 15th, the big day had come. They closed on their home and received the keys to a new chapter in their lives.
Unfortunately, that excitement came crashing to a sudden halt. Two days later, on July 17th, the family was packing late into the evening, preparing for the move. Jose took a break to run and grab some pizza for dinner. On a simple errand to pick up dinner for the family, Jose Vargas life was taken. He was the victim of a senseless act of violence. It isn’t fair. He never even got to sleep in his new home that he had worked so hard to make possible for his family.
Now, the family’s life has been flipped upside down. This house, that was supposed to be one of their biggest blessings and accomplishments of their lives, has the potential to take everything from them. They can no longer rely on the income that Jose provided to go towards the monthly mortgage.
We came together as a team to help this family become homeowners. Now, with your help we can all work as a team to help them keep their home and rebuild the life Jose Vargas wanted for his family. We are setting up this page to help the Vargas family make the mortgage payments while the family gets back on their feet after this horrible tragedy. We can not stress that every little bit helps.
