**Update: Thank You – Jose Is Home, But the Struggle Continues**

Dear supporters,

Thank you for the donations to help with expenses since Jose’s detainment on Dec 20, 2025 despite having a work permit. The family is so grateful to have Jose home, unfortunately his work permit is still “on hold” and SDGE will SHUTOFF their service if the bill remains unpaid tomorrow. Please send in $20 or $50 or any amount to help them keep the lights on.

Jose, the family’s breadwinner, husband, and father, has been released from Otay Mesa Detention Center and is now home with an ankle monitor. Tragically, his legal work permit – which allowed him to support his family for over 20 years – has been revoked pending his final immigration hearing. Federal court backlogs mean months before he can work again.

His partner cannot work while caring for their frightened children, who still need medications and therapy. Rent, utilities, food, and basic bills remain a heavy burden.

Initial plea:

Please help our community member and her children whose bread winner, husband, and father was abducted in Carlsbad outside of Get n Go Donuts on Monday December 22 at approximately 7am. The family needs help with the children’s medications, therapy copays, and food costs as well as rent and electricity and phone bills. They are frightened. The mother is unable to work. Please help show them they are not alone in this, that we will not criminalize poverty, and that we see the humanity in our fellow families. Anything will help.
