Trying to keep home while son is in the hospital

While trying to apply for rental assistance from the recent stimulus package I was required to pay 37% of my total balance of $6000 to even qualify for assistance. I did not expect that. That is about $2500. If I had money I wouldn't be asking for help. 
I wasn't asking to pay the balance, just to help while we (and the world) get back on their feet.
My youngest has special needs and has been hit hard by Covid, he has been hospitalized for weeks. I want to be the best I can be for him, going to see him everyday with a smile on my face, but I am definitely worried about having a place for him to come home to. Any help is more than appreciated!
