I’m raising money for my family of 4 living in a 1 bedroom apartment. We immigrated here from Syria in 2000 and have been living in the same place ever since. My son sleeps in the bedroom, and my daughter, husband and I sleep in the living room. My husband and I sleep on separate couches. My husband and I both have disabilities and it is very hard for us to get ahead. I have recently had a heart attack and I am recovering. We would use the money so we could move into a 2 bedroom with guaranteed rent for 1 year. I have applied for BC housing since 2015 and the waiting list is really long. It is a huge struggle living in this environment and it has really taken a toll on all our mental health. I want my children to be happy and for my 22 year old daughter to have some privacy because I know that it is very difficult for her too.
