Hi my name is Tara, I’ve always thought I would never be a gofundme fundraiser but here I am. On April 12, 2023 we had to evacuate our home due to flooding from historic rainfall in the Fort Lauderdale area, our area received over 25 inches of rain in 24 hours. At 5:00pm that evening water began seeping into our home as the storm level quickly surpassed the foundation our home was built on, water was seeping through our walls, when water covered all the flooring in our home , I knew it was time to get us out of the situation. My husband thankful has an old but amazing pickup that barely made it out of flood waters to get us out of the area.

We left with only the clothes on our back and eventually the water level made it above our windows flooding our home with over 2 feet of water. The photo you see in our cover photo was us on Easter Sunday, we don’t even have those clothes to wear anymore.

If you can help in any way it would be incredible. We will use this money to replace our belongings, appliances, and walls that were lost during flooding. We will update as we can but for now our house is uninhabitable and still covered in thigh deep water.
